Orthognathic (Jaw)

Corrective Jaw Surgery is also known as orthognathic surgery. The definition of orthognathic means “straight jaw”.

There have been significant technological advancements in the field of orthognathic surgery. All cases undergo virtual surgical planning using 3D modelling software to accurately predict the changes to the teeth and face. These advanced techniques allow better planning and execution of jaw surgery, achieving the best possible results.

Often a patient may visit the orthodontist to have their teeth straightened and obtain a better, healthier bite. Some patients may require the expertise of an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to achieve alignment and bite correction. Teeth are often crowded due to upper and lower jaw size disproportion and impaction of teeth. Both tooth impactions and jaw size disproportion may require surgical correction to achieve stable straight teeth.
