Wisdom Teeth REMOVAL

Overview

Your wisdom teeth are the last molars that usually come through during your late teens or early 20s. Not everyone has wisdom teeth, and not all wisdom teeth cause problems or need to be removed.

Wisdom teeth can cause dental problems if they become impacted (wisdom tooth pushing against another tooth or gum). Impaction can lead to tooth decay, periodontal (gum) disease or infection. Wisdom teeth may be associated with cysts and tumours of the jaws. Problematic wisdom teeth can lead to painful chewing and bad breath.

Wisdom teeth removal is one of most common procedures performed by Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. We offer removal of wisdom teeth in our rooms under local anaesthetic or sedation. Alternatively, most patients choose to have their wisdom teeth removed under a general anaesthetic in hospital with one of our specialists.
